As we continue our discussion regarding the Civil War, watch the following video and think about the necessity of this war. The Union was being divided with the issue of Slavery at the forefront and economic gain underneath. However, do you think that the war did more good for our nation than bad. Leave a comment telling me your thoughts about what you have learned about the Civil War and rather or not you believe that it had to happen. After watching the video, create a new post writing a letter as if you were actually fighting in the war and you want to tell your family about it. Use your text book pages 498 - 503 as reference to what life was like during this crucial time in our Country. Title your post: Civil War Letter. Your post must include information from both the text and the video that you will watch in a moment. Have fun learning!

ReplyDeleteI believe that the war did have to happen,the slavery was not right THEY ARE HUMANS TOO.But I also beleive that the war was a bad time. A LOT of people died.
ReplyDeleteOk so I have learned that the Civil War was not just about the slavery it was also about money. A lot of people did not have money and they needed it. The war was against the Union and the Confederacy. The confederacy won a lot of fights, but in the end the union won!!! YA!! When I first heard how many people died I was SOOOOO sad. I could not beleive it.
I know that this is like brother vs brother, family members fighting. It is like the town was split in two, right down the middle just like they said. 6,020 people dead, on the ground after the battle in a town of 50,000,000 people. "you have driven home emotionally".
ReplyDeleteI learn that I cant believe that it was your live or the first person who get there gun powder in will stay alive.I seen that family members where fighting vs each other because of what state there in.When the confederacy was keep winning I knew that the union was going to win at least one time.When someone like the confederacy beat the union so many times the confederacy thinks there so good they just start doing bad
ReplyDeleteI learned that the Civil War was the bloodiest war in the U.S. History. The Civil War was a war to determine the freedom of slaves, or if slavery should be. I don't think it had to happen, because slavery is cruel and they should listen to President Abraham Lincoln. If they would just folllow the President, nobody would have to die and this wouldn't have happened!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that people that are living today still have to go to war. I also can't believe that our family had to fight against each other vs other people. I ave learned about the Civil War that its was not all about Slavery it was about the money.

ReplyDeleteI really think that how they fought and how they had to fight against their family members is sad cause I would never want to fight my siblings.
ReplyDeleteAnd a lot of people lost their life during this and I feel bad for their family and how they had to find out that one of their siblings has pasted away because they got shot or they died of in infection or stuff like that and I'm glad I didn't have to experience that.

ReplyDeleteThe war did have to happen because they were fighting for free slaves and yeah people lost their lives but it was worth it. If it wasn't for those soldiers our country would still have slaves that is why the civil war was so important. If I was in the war I would be honored to be fighting for my country. Yeah the war was bloody and all nasty and stuff. Like I said it was worth it.

I Think That War Didn't Had To Happen Because It Slavery Was The Problem It Took ALL Those People Into War. I Think War Is Bad Because All Those People That Died Had Family's And Then They Lose Them All. Plus Everyone That Were Relatives Were Fighting With Each Other. And The War Was Against The Union And Confederacy Its So Sad Losing Your Own Family And Its Hard To Reload Your Gun In The War As Fast As U Can.
ReplyDeletei don't think that was right they let brothers and cousin fight against each others.and if you don't have your powder gun ready you can get killed quick and if you run slow u going to get killed and some of them have hiding places 6,020 people had died in the war by getting split in the middle and they have to find there on place to hide .....and the south all ways loose
ReplyDeleteI learned that you have to practice to live like you have to hurry up to power your gun before the person hats trying to shot gets you before he shots and i also learned that a lot of people fought hard for there country but it was there lives in for the end and all the end a blood bath so a lot of people must've under stand how bad it was
ReplyDeleteI think the war didn't and did have to happen. It had to happen for Abraham Lincoln to be voted for president and for him to abolish slavery. But the war was not all about slavery more of the war was about money. The war took so many lives.

I think that the war looked realalistic and dumb I mean your against your family tecknicly.It was either War or pay 300$.I would not be in the war.

I don't think there should have been war, but if there had to be I don't think that it should have been cousins vs. cousins or brothers vs. brothers. I don't think that it should have been any family vs. family at all. I learned that this was the most bloodiest war of the United States. I also think that if there is war and you are reloading your gun you should hide because in the video they just stood in the open
ReplyDeleteIf I was fighting in the war it would be hard for me to kill people that I love so much.If you did not have a loaded gun somebody would kill you.It was a very devastating war people fighting for slavery and for freedom.Family killing family is harsh I would not kill anybody that I now.It is very harsh beacause I would not kill any of my loved ones.Over 620,000 died in the war and some African Americans war fighting to they neded all the help they can get to survive the war lots of people were sad that family died.Even if my little sis ter and I fight a lot I still would not kill her she is my blood.it was a very bloody war.I would never want to be apart of it.
